One Of The Littlest Games Of 22-23 Season
It’s A Young Man’s Game
-Christian Langford
-Julian Lewis
-By Arvon Bacon October 4, 2022
This Friday will mark the matchup of two top 10 7A teams, (#5 Carrolton and #8East Coweta), but what’s uncanny about the two teams, both have underclassmen quarterbacks, Julian “Ju Ju” Lewis and Christian “C5” Langford .
Of course, by now everyone on the grass roots football level and beyond knows about the sensational Carrolton freshman “Ju Ju” who is ranked as the top quarterback in class of 2026. Lewis benefitting from the nurturing of Coach Joey King who formerly coached the no. 1 overall draft pick, Trevor Lawrence who won two high school championships.
At the age of 14 the young man has accumulated a whopping 21 offers, including power five teams like Alabama and Georgia. Lewis received his first offer as an eight grader; however not as a surprise, Lewis put the state of Georgia and college recruits on notice during his Born To Compete days.
Langford, on the other hand does not have as much hype around him as Lewis but has created some exceptional buzz around his name catapulting the Indians to a 4-2 record with two prime-time wins over renowned programs Sandy Creek and Lowndes. In the game against Lowndes “C5” completed 75 percent of his passes for 352 yards and five touchdowns. In the same game Langford hauled in a receiving touchdown on the night.
The young East Coweta quarterback leads the Indians in rushing with 361 yards, averaging 60.3 yards per game.
Weapons
Langford and Lewis are both sensational young quarterbacks, but where would they be without their array of weapons.
For Langford, his favorite weapon of choice has been senior wideout #7 Brady Tillman. Tillman is the Indians leading receiver with 605 yards and 11 touchdowns. Another rising sophomore, #14 Jayshon Stegall has been the complementary one-two punch with Tillman. Stegall this season has racked up 393 yards on 21 receptions with four touchdowns.
The Indians also have a well balanced attack on the ground outside of Langford with running back tandem, senior #2 Trey Bowles and junior #8 Dionte Jones who both average over four yards a touch, and are more than capable of catching the ball out of the back field or set out wide.
Lewis’s weapon of choice for good reason is tightend-wide receiver, #13 Caleb Odom who leads the Trojans with 330 receiving yards and six touchdowns. Fellow pass catcher senior, #2 Takare Lipscomb who is a few receiving yards and a touchdown shy of Odom with 319 yards and five touchdowns. The final weapon in the tool belt of Lewis which may be the most vital to the Trojans success is junior running back, #3 Bryce Hicks who will line up any where his teams needs him on the field. Hicks will take hand-offs out of the back field and catch balls as a wide out. Bryce has rushed for 100 yards four games this year with seven touchdowns, and has 28 receptions for 306 yards.
On paper this game seems as though that the home Trojans should be a 17 point favorite but put nothing past the game planning ability of one of the most underrated head coaches in 7A John Small who has quietly turned around a once upon a time struggling Indians program; however you won’t get a score prediction out of me this early in the week haha. But you can count on me being on the sideline with all with all the “big wig” reporters bringing y’all this exclusive content.

Big Langston Rolls 48-3
https://youtu.be/96V-jeCn3mE
By Arvon Bacon
6A Champion favorites, Langston Hughes proves once again why they are the most dominant team in their classification defeating week 5 opponent, Douglas County, 48-3. The size, overall talent, and efficient execution were the deciding factor Friday Night.
No two things were more efficient for Langston than its defensive line that’s responsible for eight sacks, and senior wideout Jaden Barnes who racked up 120 yards on four receptions and a pair of touchdowns.
However, not to take anything away from the Tigers of Douglasville. Their defense has been the only unit to throw a monkey wrench in the cog of the Panthers offense forcing quarterback, Air Noland to throw his first two interceptions of the season. Both interceptions being caught by senior defensive back, Deuce Alexander.
Though the Tigers defense had its moments of bend don’t break it missed its offense spotting them some points. Losing their starting quarterback, Sire Hardaway in the first quarter the offense was almost non-existent out side of Monte Gooden’s kick-off 78 yard return that gifted the Tigers their only scoring drive of the contest.
So when you compare apples to apples and oranges to oranges, Langston had 543 offensive yards compared to Douglas County’s 69. This game was nothing shy of a patented Langston Hughes beatdown.
But Big Langston’s win didn’t come without their own mistakes, accumulating a numerous of penalties that negated a numerous of explosive plays on late downs. For the time being the Poet’s have been able to replicate big play after big play, but how long until the self inflicted infractions will come back to haunt them or a correction made.

Meet Juice Bolden
Why Heritage?

By: Arvon Bacon
Meet Juice Bolden, running back, c/o 2024 who rushed for 2,000 yard last season at Central Christian, Sahrpsburg, Ga. Now turning over a new leaf at his new home of The Heritage, Bolden seeks to set his sights on a new giant to tackle. That giant is being apart of a young class of Hawks that aspires to bring wining ways back to the Nest of the Hawks. For the past two season Heritage football has been short of even sub par football, posting back to back winless seasons during the schools short term stent in GHSA football.
Returning back to GISA where they’ve previously had success has brought in a new class of athletes including stellar 195 lb. running back Juice.
When asked why he chose Heritage, the young running back shared.
“Heritage really reached out to me and showed a lot of interest, and it’s just the atmosphere, the campus, the teachers; I feel like everyone helps and wants to see me up,” said Bolden “And we probably have the hardest coaching staff in the city, hands down, and all of them just want to see my succeed in everything that I do, so that’s why I chose Heritage,” he added.
Though playing in an independent association instead of the big business that is GHSA which may or may not hurt his recruitment process. Tune into our fourth episode of “Tell Your Story” with Juice to hear his opinion on his journey and how he plans to navigate.

Newnan Mistakes Prove Fatal Against Sandy Creek at Coweta Fayette Classic

In the words of the Fayetteville, North Carolina native, J. Cole, “let’s light this up Fayetteville”, and that exactly what Newnan and Sandy Creek did in the Coweta Fayette Classic Kick-off evening game. For the third year in a row the two respective counties have collaborated, bringing players and fans dual counties wide together for one special Saturday out year for a football jam packed mega event.
Entering the season 0-0, both teams were visibly fresh, freshly not ready for sixty-minutes in the summer heat as both teams suffered from a bevy of cramping injuries. Despite the bodies falling due the heat, it did not take away from the physicality that both teams displayed exceptionally at the Classic. Sandy Creek quarterback, Geimere Latimer II pushed the envelope a little further, capping off his smash mouth 27 yard touchdown run, running over Georgia Tech Commit, linebacker, Ashton Heflin.
Responding adequately the Cougars bullied their way down field, feeding the Patriots a high dosage of Seniors Quentevious Berry and James Paige in and outside of the tackles. Recent Souther Mississippi signee, Cougar and Justyn Reid capped off his teams retaliation drive with an emphatic touchdown catch and run bouncing off a few Patriot defenders.
After tying the ball game, the Cougars offense cooled a bit on their third drive, and was forced to punt the ball on their own 34 yard line. Met with sheer bad luck, the Cougars punt was blocked, but blocked in a way that the ball sailed in the air backwards 20 yards into the end zone for Sandy Creek to scoop for the score. Suffering what is now the inevitable losing stat of a blocked FG thanks too analytics. However managing to stay in the game down three, (20-17) with seconds dwindling to half, Geimere Latimer struck again chucking up a 45 yard prayer to Dalen Person who was surprisingly in single coverage. Despite the coverage, the Cougars exited into half down ten, 27-17.
Two costly interceptions deep in Patriots were missed opportunities for the Cougars. A six touchdown, 38-27 victory over Newnan is a very positive start for a redemption season for the Patriots as they look avenge last years first round exit out of the play-offs against Dawson County.
Is Trinity Christian Ready For Primetime
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=w-U1OhG_rhU
by: Arvon Bacon
Coming off a GHSA class 1A state championship, the Trinity Christian Lions stayed true to their tradition of the C.L.I.M.B after jumping to class 4A, by playing a smorgasborg of some of the top ranked teams, starting with last years 11-1, Woodward Academy War Eagles.
Ranked as one of the top week one games in the state, the contest definitely lived up to its high billing. Though the end game score was, 37-19, in favor of the War Eagles, the home Lions kept the game within 10 points heading into halftime down 27-17. Outside of surrendering two explosive scoring plays in the first half, the Lions defense played exceptional football, and is without a doubt a legitimate defense in 4A.
For Woodward, after graduating star running back Damari Alston, their running game still appears to be legitimate. Junior running back Myles Graham racked up 135 yards on 21 touches for two touchdowns against one of the most formidable front sevens in the 4A classification. Senior quarterback, Jalen Woods, coming off a 13 passing touchdown junior season, shredded the inexperienced Lions secondary for a near 300 passing yards, two touchdown, and a 71 percent completion rate. Favorite target of the night, #12 Ben Grice hauled in seven catches for a touchdown and 159 yards. Grice is an elusive wide receiver with break away speed.
In contrast the Lions offense visibly never seemed to find a real rhythm as their run game seemed nonexistent; however due to early interceptions the Lions were forced to rely on senior quarterback, Henry Brodnax’s arm. Brodnax even though struggling mightily early throwing three interceptions and a pick six, settled in fairly as the game progressed finishing the game with 255 yards and two touchdowns.
Returning offensive weapons from last year, Davidson commit Shawn Braxton and Florida four-star commit Aaron Gates combined for 12 receptions and 128 yards.
Defensively, the two stand out stars to look for are Lions, LB Ryan Earl and DE Ethan McDowell. Earl was all over the field Friday night making his presence felt with thunderous tackles as well as running nine style routes down the field. McDowell who plays with a high motor and great physical intangibles played with relentless pursuit hurrying the quarterback multiple times accumulating 2 sacks on the night.
Stay tuned into both teams journey this season; however in my opinion the Lions have a great chance to have a successful run in their first year in 4A and may even have a deep play off run granted good health
Woodward moving into the 7A heat will definitely make some noise and will likely make it to the second or third round of the play-offs, but I see it unlikely that they will upset this years favorite, Buford Wolves.

Aguirre Commits To Going Back Home
To Mimai
-“Bringing The Swag Back”

By: Arvon Bacon
In the afternoon of July 12, senior linebacker Raul “Po Po” Aguirre set the college football recruiting world on fire when he passed up on two powerhouse programs (Georgia, Alabama) for his home town school, the University of Miami. Seeking to return the glory back to the “U”, Miami has hired its Floridian son, Mario Cristobal who has hired an elite coaching staff of battled tested coaches as well as Miami Legends.
Aguirre spoke of a conversation with Pro Bowl safety Ed Reed, expressing his approval of HC Cristobal while giving praise to the young linebacker.
“Cristobal is a great coach and he has the mindset that everyone had at the U and we’re bringing that back,” said Aguirre on Reed’s behalf.
“Once I heard that, it definitely played a big part in getting me to understand this is it, why not be the change,” he added
Being apart of the ninth overall recruiting class in the nation the Canes are definitely putting their best foot forward en route to retuning to the “good ole days”, but Aguirre feels as though the top ten class will get better; possibly stealing two of the top defensive backs in Georgia.
As he puts it. “Where I’m going now, I’m bringing people with me. in reference to Kayan Lee and Terrance Love.
Behind The Scenes With 4Alabama Freshman Elijah Pritchett
-Photos by: Zach Hicks
By: Arvon Bacon
In a world where we glorify high school athletes for their stars or ratings we often forget that there is a down to earth human being under all the hard plastic and pads. During our time spent with well decorated Carver-Columbus alumni, Elijah, we learned that his story isn’t too far off from where some of us end our stories to glory when adversity hits. The will to win that Pritchett bestowed on our crew was astounding but also very natural. While a BIG humble giant, one can tell upon first interaction that the six-foot-six tackle is no stranger to the method of continuous persevering.
Continuous persevering? Some may be lost so let me explain. My definition of continuous persevering is, in life we have all been faced with things that seemed at the time as a cross road, and we had to grind hard to keep our dreams alive or stay afloat.
Entering into his sophomore summer, Pritchett coming off a position change from a defensive linemen to right offensive tackle, the young phenom was faced with a position battle in summer camp. Assessing himself Pritchett knew what needed to be done in order to succeed.
“Sophomore year was the year they realized that Mykel (Williams) and I came to life, but I was under weight, I was 240 pounds coming in so I had to lift and get better”. As we know all things worked out for Mr. Pritchett as he blossomed into one of the most highly sought after left tackles in the country being recruited from sea to shinning sea. The long armed (measured over 34 inches) left tackle uses his length like Ali’s right jab knocking exterior d-linemen and would be tacklers off balance while further driving them away from the play with his explosive lower half. Earning the fifth best overall tackle ranking in the nation, earned himself an invitation to the 2022 Adidas All-American Bowl where he had an exceptional showing.
Outside of recruiting and day to day football activities, the Alabama freshman enjoys video games, his family, and lifting weights.
“Lifting weights are therapeutic for me, said Pritchett.
With that being said TUNE IN to our second episode of “Tell Your Story” for a more behind the scenes look at Elijah Pritchett, and LIKE the video while you’re there. Thanks in advance!
